About Us
At ClaimMyRentBack, we are committed to helping tenants understand and exercise their rights by providing specialist assistance with Rent Repayment Order (RRO) applications.
A Rent Repayment Order allows tenants to recover rent paid to a landlord who has committed certain housing-related offences. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to claim back rent where your landlord has, for example, operated an unlicensed property, unlawfully evicted or harassed you, failed to comply with an Improvement Notice, or committed another offence under the Housing and Planning Act 2016.
Our mission is to make the Rent Repayment Order process straightforward, transparent and accessible. We understand that Tribunal proceedings can seem complex and overwhelming, which is why we provide clear guidance and practical support throughout every stage of the application process.
ClaimMyRentBack was founded by a Chartered Environmental Health Officer who has worked in local authority housing enforcement, identifying breaches of housing legislation, investigating unlicensed properties and ensuring landlords comply with their legal obligations. This experience provides a unique understanding of the evidence and legal requirements involved in Rent Repayment Order applications.
Our services include:
-
Assessing whether you may be eligible for a Rent Repayment Order.
-
Reviewing your evidence and advising on the strength of your claim.
-
Preparing and submitting your Rent Repayment Order application.
-
Organising and preparing your supporting evidence bundle.
-
Communicating with the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) on your behalf where authorised.
-
Providing guidance and support throughout the Tribunal process, including assistance with hearings where appropriate and agreed.
We are committed to providing a professional, honest and transparent service. Every case is assessed on its own facts, and we will always provide realistic guidance based on the available evidence. While no outcome can ever be guaranteed, our aim is to help clients present the strongest possible case to the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).
At ClaimMyRentBack, we believe that every tenant deserves access to clear information, professional support and the opportunity to hold landlords accountable where they have failed to meet their legal obligations.
ClaimMyRentBack Fees
An initial assessment of your potential Rent Repayment Order (RRO) claim may be provided free of charge.
ClaimMyRentBack charges a fixed fee of £50 for preparing and submitting your Rent Repayment Order application and preparing your supporting evidence bundle. This fee covers the review of your supporting documentation, preparation of the Tribunal application, organisation of your evidence, and submission of your application to the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), where applicable.
If your Rent Repayment Order application is successful and the First-tier Tribunal orders your landlord or managing agent to repay rent, ClaimMyRentBack will charge a fee equal to 25% of the total amount awarded by the Tribunal.
For example:
-
If the Tribunal awards £6,000, our success fee will be £1,500.
-
If the Tribunal awards £10,000, our success fee will be £2,500.
The success fee is calculated on the total amount awarded by the Tribunal before any payment is made to the client.
If your application is unsuccessful and no Rent Repayment Order is awarded, no success fee will be payable to ClaimMyRentBack.
The client remains responsible for:
-
any application fees or hearing fees payable to the First-tier Tribunal
-
providing accurate information and supporting evidence throughout the claim; and
-
paying the agreed success fee within 14 days of receiving payment from the landlord or otherwise receiving the Tribunal award.
ClaimMyRentBack reserves the right to issue an invoice for the success fee once the Tribunal has made its final decision and the client has been received, or become entitled to receive, the awarded sum. The success fee becomes payable immediately upon the client receiving, or becoming legally entitled to receive, any rent repayment awarded by the Tribunal.
First-tier Tribunal Fees
The First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) also charges statutory fees for processing Rent Repayment Order applications. At the date of these Terms & Conditions, those fees are:
-
Application fee: £114
-
Hearing fee: £227 (only payable if the Tribunal directs that a hearing will take place)
These fees are set by HM Courts & Tribunals Service and may change from time to time.
The client is solely responsible for paying all Tribunal fees, including the application fee and, where applicable, the hearing fee. These fees are payable directly to the First-tier Tribunal and are separate from any fees charged by ClaimMyRentBack.
ClaimMyRentBack will prepare the Tribunal application, organise the supporting evidence bundle and provide guidance on completing the application process. We will also advise you on when Tribunal fees become payable. However, responsibility for ensuring that all Tribunal fees are paid on time remains with the client.
Where the Tribunal lists the matter for an oral hearing, any assistance with hearing preparation or attendance will be subject to a separate written agreement and any additional fees agreed in advance.
